CPP: Free up-skill opportunity for Nigerians amidst tight labor competition – Adan Henry

Jomo Resource Center unveils reopening of application into her Capacity Palliative Programme (CPP) designed to offer Nigerians of workable age and stature the opportunity to learn more corporate skills that would put them ahead of their peers amidst tight labor competition in Nigeria and beyond.

The unveiling was done during a virtual meeting of the management held on Saturday, 27th August 2022. Jomo Resource Center, is an emerging vocational institute positioned to provide the platform for the acquisition of ICT, Leadership, and Entrepreneurship skills.

Speaking during the event, the Chairman, Jomo Resource Center, Mr. Adan Henry called on all Nigerian youths to desist from the attitude of full-time job hunt to partial job hunt by dividing their time between job hunt, up-skilling, and side hustles. “This is coming as it has been noticed over time that some youths spend a lot of time solely looking for jobs without finding ways to up-skill. As a result, they eventually become unemployable because the labor market is constantly growing & improving. Job seekers who refuse to improve will phase out of the system”, the chairman said.

While stating lack of funds as one of the factors hindering some youths from up-skilling, he advised them to take advantage of the CPP initiative and other available free training programs. In his words “Nigerian youths are among the brightest in the world, our problem remains lack of up-skilling. We must understand that the labor market is growing. Organizations are constantly reviewing and upgrading their job requirements. We, therefore, can’t seat on the fence as it is not safe.”

Announcing the reopening of applications for the CPP initiative, he said it offers Nigerians who are of working age and seeking jobs or intending to start their venture the opportunity to up-skill with very few resources. He said while the program is entirely free, participants would have to meet the requirements and fit a certification fee of N2, 000 only.

Speaking on the scope of the program, he explained that, unlike the previous sessions, this session would feature three different programs, namely; Personal & Servant Leadership Building, Corporate Structure & Strategy Development, and Professional Profiling. “The courses are carefully selected to represent the three objective areas (ICT, Leadership, and Entrepreneurship) of the center”, he added.
